This is my story of travelling the world as a solo older woman...
As we know often our marriage is restructured and we are left out of the restructuring...we are left at an older age of being solo again. Our children have began building their lives and partnerships so it is only the odd 'come away with us Mum' trip you have to look forward to. Not ideal for a women regaining her individuality and independence, therefore travelling alone is what you have to consider and embrace with excitement of a new adventure.
Now I was made redundant many years ago and have travelled extensively alone but I'm over organising the drop offs, pick ups, accommodation and researching the local knowledge of where best to go and stay. Hence this is the first package tour I have done and I'm hooked and will use Turkey Travel Centre again in 2016 for Greece and parts of Turkey I couldn't fit in this year.
Like all of us I went to see Skyfall the James Bond movie and decided then and there I was going to Turkey, that how it began...as simply as that!
Michael at TTC in Melbourne understood that I didn't want to be up at 6am every morning on the bus and have more culture input, it's about the experience of the country and the indulgence of taking my time travelling about. Staying at lovely hotels for several nights allowing me to just sit in the cafes 'people watching' and of course trying of the local spas without the constant packing up every night. I have met with so many different people from all nationalities as I have travelled about, on the days of transfers the mini bus mysteriously arrives and I'm on another adventure with a new group. And when I say group it has been a maximum of 11 of us and more often only 3 so not merely am I taking away the culture of Turkey I'm taking friendship from other travellers. Our guides have been fantastic with their local input and their knowledge extensive but it's the fun I have had with them that has touched me and that can only come from small group travelling.
So ladies get out into the world and regain your independence should we wish to see the ever surprising country of Turkey and/or visit Greece contact TTC and you will be well looked after, cared for and have constant contact with the office in Istanbul. Their co ordination is seamless and their choice of drivers, guides, accommodation and destinations is second to none. So do not hesitate, do not be fearful of travelling alone see this as an opportunity to travel where you want and do what you want....and that is exciting!
